WHAT IS "SELFNESS"?

More and more hotels are today talking about Selfness. You may have heard it, but you probably may not assign a meaning.
You may wonder what is it that these hotels or spa centres are offering?
Logically you may connect the word "Wellness" and the word “Self" here.
Wellness is actually a well-defined term and includes three different aspects: relaxation, nutrition and exercise. In advertising, the term "wellness" is used for literally everything that can make one feel better and more relaxed. From wellness socks to wellness tea to wellness massages. In short, wellness is for personal well-being.
“Selfness” means something similar to “having an active rest". Selfness concepts should lead to a healthy and a more fulfilling life, i.e. to a permanent self-change.
The term was first mentioned in 2014 by Mathias Horx. The German trend researcher thus combined two things: feeling well and finding oneself - permanently.
And there come the first obstacle you need to overcome. How can you permanently be in "feeling good” state? So how can you live this every day?
This is more than just a relaxing weekend. In order to achieve this, old thought patterns and structures must be put to test and revised and changed.

Which way can one go? Here are aspects of “Selfness”:

• Inner balance and holistic relaxation
These two aspects can be trained well. For example through yoga or Qi Gong, through meditation or mindfulness exercises. The more often you do this, the better you internalise it and get into your own balance and relaxed life.

• health and enjoyment
A conscious meal also plays a big role in the well-being. The phrase: "You are what you eat” is not a coincidence. There is no panacea here. For some people it is plant-based food, for others combined foods. Anyone who consciously nourishes himself and listens to his body is already doing a lot of things right. Regional and seasonal products and this also high quality and in organic can help a lot. And now and then a fasting or purification day is certainly good too. Learn to listen to your body again! Your body knows exactly what it needs.

• Life in motion
Active living and movement also plays a role in selfness. You don’t have to be a professional athlete. You do not need athletic challenges to feel good. As with nutrition, the body plays a big role here as well. Look. Feel it. What can you do to make your body function ideally? Whether it's a daily fitness program, hiking or Nordic walking - even a regular walk across meadows and fields or in the woods, can do wonders for your well-being. Feel nature and live in harmony with it.

• Coaching & Development
Sometimes you need an outside help to make a difference. Whether it's nutritional counseling, a stress management course, a mindfulness seminar, there are great people who can help you find and resolve solidified structures within you which need an urgent change.

Selfness is very complex and a long-term state. Selfness is a harmony of body, mind and soul. Selfness is a harmonious state of mental and physical well-being. And it's a path to inner and outer balance.

“The day she realised, it was not about the world but was all about her, she grew the wings. The day she understood she was not answerable to any of them who always blamed and pointed her, she had the fire blazing in her eyes. She raised and soared towards the sky. The whole world looked at her in awe and wished if only they could be her. She was not confined to be on the ground anymore. She had the wings of fire and she left a trail everywhere she went, for other to follow.”
