Inner tension, the feeling of being overwhelmed and the fear of not doing something as we imagined is the proper way, rob us of the joy and peace of the day. But in hectic times, there is often a lack of time to relax and gain strength for everyday needs. The causes of nervousness and restlessness are different, the consequences are almost always the same. Body and soul lack the necessary rest. In this case, inner peace is especially important when we are faced with new tasks, be it in the family, at work or in the circle of friends.

Nervousness and sleep disorders - a vicious circle
Nervousness and sleep disorders often come hand in hand. Due to the tension during the day we do not come to rest in the evening and do not have a good night's sleep. And then due to the resulting lack of sleep, the following day becomes a torment. This all results in a cycle that we find difficult to break. Some simple methods can help to regain calm and inner balance. In addition, nature has a variety of medicinal herbs ready to help us get through the day more relaxed or better off in the evening.

What are causes for inner restlessness?
Almost everyone has experienced phases during his life, when he was struggling to accomplish basic daily tasks due to nervousness or a tendency to be overly anxious. The causes of the inner imbalance can be either in our environment or in ourselves. Environmental causes include:
  • constant stress, whether in the family or at work
  • daily hustle and bustle due to deadline pressure and excessive workload
  • excessive demands of our fellow human beings
  • sensory overload
  • stressful life situations
Among the causes that lie within us include:
  • high demand on ourselves to make everything perfect
  • hypersensitivity to the criticism of others
  • disappointments
  • the tendency to get excited about trifles
Women often suffer from restlessness, especially as they are often twice as burdened by family and work. Hormonal fluctuations during menopause also cause inner restlessness and nervousness. The expectations of men can be so great that their inner peace and balance are lost.

What are the consequences of frequent restlessness?
Normally every phase of tension follows a relaxation phase. This triggers reactions in the body that serve recovery. These include a calm breathing, a lowered heart rate and a reduced blood circulation. If this recovery lasts for a long time, it will have positive consequences on our body. If not, body’s immune system is weakened, infectious agents can attack us faster. The long-term consequences are serious illnesses and physical impairments.
Constant stress also attacks the psyche. Just like our body, the psyche needs time to recover. If this does not happen, depression can develop, which must be treated by the doctor. Anxieties which persist a long time should not be self-diagnosed. They belong in the hands of an experienced professional. He can assess whether anxiety already has a disease character and prescribe a suitable therapy that takes both body and soul into account.

9 tips for more inner peace
In order to successfully tackle restlessness, it makes sense to deal with one's own life situation. Write down when the tension is greatest. Then think about how you can handle these situations.

In cases of excessive workload you should ask your fellow human beings for help, be it at work or at home.
Try not to put yourself under stress. Take time to sort out your thoughts.
If you cannot continue with one task, do not hesitate to ask others for help. Pass tasks to others.
Try to eliminate unnecessary appointments from your everyday life.
Make a work schedule every day. Think about how long you need for each task. Also make plans for conscious phases of relaxation.
Learn to think for yourself. Everyone needs recovery periods and does not always have to be available to everyone.
Create a physical distance when relaxation in the family or at work is difficult. A walk in the park, on the water or in the forest brings the thoughts to rest.
Learn to complete the day consciously. To be able to fall asleep better, you should have completed the daily program about two hours before bedtime. Then take time for your recovery. Helpful evening rituals.
If switching off is difficult, then you can attend courses in order to learn some relaxation techniques.

Anyone who is unable to calm down due to inner restlessness, nervousness or permanent tension can be helped by medicinations. Severe mental disorders and organic disorders must be treated by a doctor. If you have been suffering from restlessness or anxiety for some time, please clarify any possible medical conditions to your family doctor.
