CELLULITE: WHAT REALLY HELPS AND WHAT DOESN’T HELP?

There is no long-term effective medical treatment for cellulite. Only the cosmetic procedure of liposuction (liposuction) can reduce the symptoms to a certain extent. Since the fatty tissue is responsible for the unevenness of the skin, the removal of fat also reduces the appearance of bumps in the skin.
However, how effective this can be depends on each individual, as the silhouette is primarily changed by the extraction. With a new increase in weight, the remaining cells increase again and stand out more.
Laser and infrared treatment

In addition to the treatment with externally applicable cosmetic products, there are also other methods that promise a reduction or elimination of cellulite. These include methods that use laser or infrared light in combination with massage techniques to mobilize the fat from the buttocks, thighs and hips. The first results showed quite promising approaches - albeit in studies with a very small number of cases, without comparison groups and without long-term courses, which also suggests caution when it comes to costs. Per session one pays about 200 dollars.

Special massages
Here one should mention the so-called Endermologie procedure, which is a special kind of massage for deeper tissue layers, which stimulate blood circulation, tighten the connective tissue and lead to the reduction of fatty tissue. That can help in the short term. Again, the user pays high costs per session and the effect diminishes as treatments are interrupted.

Effective anti-cellulite tips: You can do that yourself
Can you get rid of cellulite? Unfortunately not completely. However, there are some measures that improve the appearance of the skin and strengthen the connective tissue. These are mainly healthy weight loss, sports and massages.
  • The most important measure is weight reduction if you’re overweight: When you lose weight, the fat cells shrink and do not push through the layers of skin as much - the dents become smaller.
  • Movement: Regular exercise helps on the one hand while losing weight. On the other hand, the body replaces fat with muscle mass. At the same time the blood circulation of the skin improves. Sport is therefore one of the most important remedies for skin lesions.
  • Nutrition: Adapted diets also help combat cellulite. Key tips include: remove animal fat from diet, eat more whole grains, fish, and plenty of vegetables.
  • With gentle massages, you can ensure that lymphatic fluid and water are removed. This improves the skin a bit. However, massages do not help against the fat itself. When you stop using the treatments, the complexion deteriorates again.
  • Anything that helps blood circulation and strengthens connective tissue can reduce cellulite. These include brush massages, changing showers, sauna or sports.
  • Also sufficient hydration of the skin via taking enough liquids is a remedy for cellulite. It keeps the skin elastic longer.

Balancing your diet
Drink plenty of water and vegetable juices with no added sugar. Drinking water flushes all toxins out of the body and juices will give you the necessary vitamins, minerals and energy. Lime or lemon juice will also help a lot. Reduce intake of sodas and caffeine as they increase harmful toxins in the body. Getting rid of these toxins will contribute greatly towards the reduction of cellulite. Juices protect and revitalize the skin and immune system. Inlude fish in the diet. Fish contains the necessary fats and oils that are needed by the body. This is an effective way to reduce cellulite. Baking or grilling the fish as an alternative to frying. Remember that fried products contribute to cellulite.

Exercises for cellulite
Aerobic exercise and cardiovascular exercises such as jogging, running, hiking, swimming, cycling etc. work effectively to reduce cellulite. These exercises improve blood circulation in the body. All of this will result in less cellulite accumulation as well as removal of cellulite from the body.

Massages
Massage is another method that helps to get rid of cellulite. You can do massage at any therapist in your area. Massage helps break cellulite cells in the body. It also helps blood circulation, which is important when treating cellulite.
These are some some methods that really work to eliminate cellulite. There are also some additional techniques that can help with cellulite-issue, e.g. Mesotherapy and Endermologie.

Methods which do NOT help against cellulite are all those which are quick, short-termed and done separately. When treating cellulite, a combination of methods should be practiced.

Quick-fix anticellulite creams & lotions
This is probably the most common remedy that women quickly resort to if they want to get rid of cellulite. The reason is that this is the simplest and most convenient way and its widely advertised. Only downside: it does not work in the long run.
It is in people’s nature that they always try to solve a problem with the easiest way first.
They swallow pills, apply creams and undergo any third party treatment. In most cases, you will not get rid of the problem, but only your own money.
Sometimes you just have to research a bit to find the right solution for a problem.
You may ask why creams and lotions do not work in the long run? It is because they only treat the skin superficially. Cellulite is a problem that has its source in the muscles far beneath the skin. A superficial treatment can therefore not work. The muscle weakness in the affected areas can only be remedied with special exercises that train and strengthen these zones.
Cellulite is just a symptom, and to get rid of symptoms, you have to fix their cause.

Short term MediSpa treatments
The reasons for the failure are basically the same as those of creams and lotions.
The treatment takes place only superficially, but the cause of cellulite is far below the skin.
There are many other treatment options that promise success against cellulite. But always be aware of one thing: if the muscles in the affected cellulite regions are not strengthened, no treatment will help you in the long run.
